"Stanislavski once wrote that you should ‘play well or badly, but play truly.’ It is not up to you whether your performance will be brilliant – all that is under control is your intention. It is not under your control whether your career will be brilliant – all that is under control is your intention."

A Few Things ...

Hey All,

Please bring your Student/Parent Contract sheet with you to your next rehearsal - if you have not already done so.

DVD / Ticket Forms - Please wait to turn in your DVD Order Forms or Ticket Forms until further notice. Mrs. Statham (who is handling tix sales) does not yet have the binders / tickets. {If you have already done so, don't worry, I've got them.}

Rehearsal - please let Ms. Hall know at the beginning of rehearsal if you NEED to take the late bus home on a day when you are scheduled to go to 5pm. This way things can be re-organized if they need to. Thanks.

:o) Thank you!!!
~Ms. Hall

SPORTS
*If your child is in an afterschool sport, and they are called to rehearsal, we would like to work it out in this fashion:
~If rehearsal goes from 2:50 – 4:10 than we’d like them to go to practice from 2:50 – 3:30 – rehearsal from 3:30 – 4:10.
~If rehearsal goes from 2:50 – 5:00 than we’d like them to go to practice from 2:50 – 3:55 and rehearsal from 3:55 – 5:00.
*If it is a game/meet day and it’s away, we know they will not be at rehearsal – this will not be counted as an unexcused absence. If it is a game/meet day and it’s home, we’d like to work it out as I have listed it above. (They come to us for a bit, and then go on to the game/meet.)
*I will do my best not to schedule kids on game days, but that can’t be said for all practice days, so we hope this shared method will work for all.

*Other Set/Costume etc…work calls will happen in the evenings, and we will let you know when they are, as we get going.

Kabuki Theatre

This year we will be introducing the cast to a style of theatre done in Japan called Kabuki Theatre. More specifically, we will be implementing a specific element of Kabuki theatre, that of the Koken or Kurombo - who are stage assistants dressed in black, in our production.

The Koken or Kurombo are there to help the actors with props, costumes and other things, and are in full view of the audience when doing so. Come to the show to see how we will utilize this convention of Japanese theatre in our production.

We have enlisted the help of some High School students who will undertake the role of the Koken or Kurombo for us.

~Ms. Hall

You can read more about Kabuki by googling it.

Also, if you follow this web link
https://sites.google.com/site/utnarukami/kabuki-theatre-3/kabuki-acting-traditions-techniques
and watch the first youtube video on the page, you can see a Kurombo in action!

Our Kurombo:
